Ribbon Yarn Sale + Pattern Ideas

Have you ever seen some of those beautiful ribbon yarns, but resisted buying them because you had no idea what you could make with them? We're big fans of using ribbon yarn to make creative and unique knitted and crocheted pieces - they can be used to create fabulous purses, shawls, hats, or even just as decorative trim. Not a fan of something made entirely out of ribbon yarn? Try carrying one strand of ribbon yarn with one strand of regular smooth yarn for a different look, or adding a contrasting stripe or edging of ribbon yarn into an otherwise plain project.

Here are some examples of projects that could be given a beautiful finished look by using a lovely ribbon yarn!

Crochet: Herringbone Mesh Jacket
by Amy O'Neill Houck ($7.50)

Knit: Butterfly Wrap
by Sivia Harding ($7.50)

Crochet: Knots 'N Puffs Capelet
by Dora Ohrenstein ($6.00)

Knit: Sideways Skinny Scarf (Yarn Sellar Exclusive Pattern!)
by Yarn Sellar, Inc. (FREE download on Ravelry) - Not a member of Ravelry? It's free to join!

Crochet: Bamboozled Shrug
by Amy O'Neill Houck ($6.00)

To celebrate these beautiful but underrated yarns, we're currently running a sale: all ribbon yarns are 30% off until October 2nd! Not a good enough deal for you? How about 50% off when you purchase 10 or more? Come on into the store and take a look at our wall of fanciful, decorative, shiny, or multi-textured yarns and get inspired!

Transitional Garments

Summer is winding down (though the temperatures are still pretty high some days!). Seemed pretty short, didn't it? Now is the perfect time for transitional knitting and crochet - why not make a piece that can function for the rest of summer and into fall?

We really love this knitted Orangina Top because of how pretty and feminine it is. Designed with versatility in mind, it can function in three ways - it stands on its own as a pretty summery top, underneath a jacket or sweater as a lacy cami, or even over a long-sleeved shirt as a vest! With a simple lace pattern and quick and easy construction, this will easily be one of your favorite go-to garments!

For you crocheters out there, we really love this versatile Lucky Clover Shawl. Throw this pretty and lacy shawl over your shoulders on chilly fall evenings, or belt it around the middle for a hip kimono-inspired top!
